Geshela identified that the key to breaking the poverty cycle was through education. A modern education as the basis to provide for basic human needs, and a spiritual  education through Buddhism to cultivate spiritual development and build moral character for day-by-day life. The best course of action to provide the former is to house the children from Lingshed near to the education centers in Leh, Ladakh. And the best way to do this was to build a residential hostel for the children; to house them centrally, provide for their basic needs and to keep them safe.
